Nigerian-American,Ugo Ugochukwu Makes History, Wins 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship


Nigerian-American racing driver Ugo Ugochukwu has been crowned the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Champion, making history after securing the title in dramatic fashion at the season finale in Madrid, Spain.
The 19-year-old Campos Racing driver finished second in the final race at the Madring circuit, a result that was enough to see him claim the championship ahead of British rival Freddie Slater.
Ugochukwu ended the season with 159 points, finishing 14 points ahead of Slater, who accumulated 145 points.
The championship triumph marks another significant milestone in the young driver's career, as Ugochukwu becomes the first American driver to win the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
Born in New York to Nigerian parents, Ugochukwu has steadily progressed through the junior single-seater racing categories and is regarded as one of the promising young talents on the international motorsport scene.
His 2026 Formula 3 title further strengthens his ambitions of reaching the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, where he hopes to become the next Nigerian-American driver to compete at the highest level of single-seater racing.
Ugochukwu's achievement has also generated excitement among Nigerian motorsport enthusiasts, with his success providing a notable connection between Nigeria and the global racing world.
