Olomoro Chiefs Pass Vote of Confidence in Tinubu, Oborevwori, Onwo, Adopt APC Candidates for 2027

The Olomoro Council of Chiefs in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the member representing Isoko South II Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Ferguson Ajiroghene Onwo, while adopting candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made on Sunday, August 23, 2026, during a gathering of traditional rulers, chiefs, community leaders, elders and political stakeholders at the palace of the Odio-Ologbo of Olomoro Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Abraham Atatobe Agboro.

The gathering brought together prominent sons and daughters of Olomoro, as well as political and community leaders, for the formal presentation and adoption of the APC candidates.

A motion for the adoption of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Hon. Onwo and other APC candidates was moved and seconded by chiefs of the kingdom.

Following the motions, the APC Delta State Vice Chairman and Chairman of the party in Delta South Senatorial District, Prince Emmanuel Amgbadugba, conducted a voice vote to determine the position of the gathering.

The response was overwhelming, with the gathering unanimously endorsing the motion, prompting Prince Amgbadugba to declare, “The Ayes have it.”

Prince Amgbadugba commended the traditional ruler, Council of Chiefs and people of Olomoro for what he described as a strong demonstration of confidence in the APC and its candidates.

He also appreciated the Council for its support and solidarity towards Hon. Onwo, noting that the endorsement extended beyond the lawmaker to include President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori and other APC candidates.

Earlier, Hon. Onwo, accompanied by a large number of supporters and political associates, had paid a courtesy visit to the Odio-Ologbo, where he received royal blessings after formally declaring his intention to seek re-election to the Delta State House of Assembly.

The lawmaker, who is Chairman of the House Committee on Health, pledged to consolidate the achievements recorded during his first two terms, stressing that more remained to be done for the people of Isoko South II Constituency.

Expressing gratitude to the Council of Chiefs for the honour, Onwo described the adoption as unprecedented in his political journey across Isoko Nation.

He expressed confidence that Isoko South II would deliver a “5 over 5” victory for the APC in 2027, attributing the growing support to political unity, workers’ welfare and development initiatives at the grassroots.

Onwo urged APC members to remain united, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and work collectively towards securing victory for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.

The Odio-Ologbo of Olomoro Kingdom, HRM Abraham Atatobe Agboro, in his remarks, prayed for the success of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Hon. Onwo and other APC candidates.

The event was attended by several political and community leaders, including the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council, Hon. Warri Ovoke; Isoko South APC Chairman, Chief Victor Ekelega; APC leader in Isoko Nation, High Chief Lucky Esigie; and President General of Olomoro Community, Chief Anthony Ukpagba.
Onwo Joins House Committee to Assess Uzere Oil Spill

In a related development, Hon. Onwo, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Delta State House Committee on Environment, Oil and Gas, joined members of the committee on an on-the-spot assessment of the OML 30 oil spill in Uzere, Isoko South Local Government Area.

The committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Festus Utuama, was received by the Heritage Energy and Gas Project Management team, which took the lawmakers to the source of the spill for a firsthand assessment of its environmental impact and effects on the host community.

Addressing youths of Uzere, Onwo commended them for maintaining peace and responsible conduct despite the challenges caused by the oil spill.

He said their peaceful disposition underscored the importance of dialogue and constructive engagement in resolving issues affecting oil-producing communities.

The committee urged Heritage Energy and other relevant stakeholders to take urgent steps to mitigate the impact of the spill, protect the environment and engage meaningfully with the host community in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The Delta State House Committee on Environment, Oil and Gas reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection, the welfare of host communities and responsible oil and gas operations across the state.

Other lawmakers who participated in the assessment included Hon. Emeka Osamuta, representing Ndokwa East Constituency; Hon. Matthew Omonade, representing Ughelli North I Constituency; and Hon. Bino Obowomano Owhede, representing Isoko South I Constituency.
