ODEBALA APPROACHES COURT TO RECOVER HIS MANDATE AS NDC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE

Hon(Chief) Ejaife Odebala Esq, an NDC Delta State Governorship Aspirant, has approached the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to challenge the submission of the name of Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the NDC Governorship Candidate for Delta State.

Odebala is challenging the outcome of the NDC Governorship Primaries held on 29th May 2026 across the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State. He contends that he emerged victorious based on what he maintains were the lawful votes cast by duly registered NDC members whose names were contained in the party membership register submitted to INEC on 10th May 2026.

In the suit, Odebala is seeking, among other reliefs, an order directing that he be recognised as the party's governorship candidate, on the grounds that he secured the majority of the lawful votes cast during the primary election.

With the matter now before the court, the legal battle over the NDC governorship ticket has formally begun.

The development once again underscores the important role of the Judiciary in resolving disputes arising from the democratic process and upholding the rule of law.

As the legal battle unfolds, all eyes are now on the Judiciary.
