Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Delta State and unveiled “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oborevwori inaugurated the council on Thursday in Asaba, where he charged members to mobilise voters at the grassroots and take the message of President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates to communities across the state.

The governor described membership of the campaign council as a call to service, urging members to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment to ensure victory for Tinubu, himself and other party candidates in the forthcoming elections.

He called on party leaders and campaign coordinators at the local government and ward levels to strengthen their structures, work with support groups and intensify door-to-door campaigns, stressing that the party must engage directly with market women, youths, workers, farmers and traders rather than relying solely on rallies.

The governor urged the campaign council to highlight the achievements of the Tinubu-led Federal Government and his administration's M.O.R.E Agenda, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers' welfare, youth empowerment and security.

He maintained that the administration's achievements must be effectively communicated to voters, while assuring Deltans that political activities would not distract his government from ongoing projects and development programmes.

Oborevwori also appealed to politicians and their supporters to maintain peace, avoid hate speech and ensure that political differences did not threaten the unity of the state.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, commended Oborevwori for aligning Delta State with the Federal Government and urged APC members to consolidate the gains ahead of the 2027 elections.

Onyeme encouraged party faithful to promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration in local government autonomy, education funding, grassroots development, security, electricity and road infrastructure.
Similarly, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, defended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, describing them as necessary measures to address longstanding economic challenges.

Keyamo acknowledged the hardship associated with the reforms but maintained that the policies were designed to tackle structural problems in the nation's economy, including the rising cost of fuel subsidies.

In his welcome address, Delta APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, said the inauguration demonstrated the party's readiness to contest and win elections at all levels in 2027.

He urged members of the council to work collectively, mobilise voters peacefully and translate the achievements of APC-led governments into electoral support.
Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who spoke on behalf of Delta North Senatorial District, said expectations were high following the defection of political leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April 2025.

Okowa charged the campaign council to demonstrate the party's strength through impressive electoral performance, emphasising the importance of direct engagement with voters instead of depending exclusively on political rallies.

Representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Olorogun O'tega Emerhor expressed satisfaction that the APC had become the ruling party in Delta State and pledged support for the re-election bids of Tinubu and Oborevwori.

Also speaking, former Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, who represented Delta South Senatorial District, said the achievements of the Oborevwori administration would strengthen the party's campaign.

Macaulay assured the council that the district would work towards delivering substantial votes for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Former APC National Woman Leader and Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, Stella Okotete, called on women to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a target of at least 75 per cent of votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Responding on behalf of the campaign council, its Director-General, Senator James Manager, pledged to work closely with party leaders and members to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

Manager described the assignment as a major responsibility that required collective commitment, unity and sustained grassroots mobilisation.

The campaign council is chaired by Governor Oborevwori, with Senator James Manager serving as Director-General and Mr Chiedu Ebie as Deputy Director-General, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.

The inauguration marks a major step in the APC's preparations for the 2027 general elections in Delta State, with the party expected to intensify mobilisation and voter engagement in the months ahead.
