Oborevwori Constitutes Governing Councils for Three Delta Universities

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the constitution of Governing Councils for the three state-owned universities in the state.

The development, according to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, is aimed at strengthening the administration, governance and policy direction of the institutions.

The universities affected are the University of Delta, Agbor, Dennis Osadebay University and Southern Delta University.

For the University of Delta, Agbor, Prof. Victor Peretomode was appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council. Other members are Rear Admiral Peter I. Eluma, Prof. Ebele Egwunyega, Dr. Roland Oritsejafor, Mrs. Joy Enwa, Prof. Ben Oghojafor and Prof. Patrick Oromareghake.

At Dennis Osadebay University, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare will serve as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, alongside Dr. Christopher Onyemenam, Chief Elmina V. Namah, Prof. Jacob Oboreh, Dr. Josephine Konyeme, Dr. Philomena Imonivewerha and Prof. Rowell Ubogu.

For Southern Delta University, Chief Godson Echegile was appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman. Members of the council include Prof. Benedict Binebai, Surveyor Mrs. Felicia Omatsola, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, Dr. Tosan Luck Popo, Prof. William Ehwarieme and Prof. Regina Arisi.

The Secretary to the State Government said the appointments took immediate effect, urging the newly appointed council members to deploy their wealth of experience towards repositioning the institutions for academic excellence and improved service delivery.

The constitution of the governing councils is part of the Oborevwori administration’s continuing efforts to strengthen the education sector and improve the administration of state-owned tertiary institutions.

The councils are expected to provide strategic oversight and contribute to the effective governance and development of the three universities.
