Amori @74: Political Colossus, Says Igbakpa, Others

Senator Ighoyota Amori has been described as a political colossus whose influence and contributions have continued to resonate in Delta State’s political landscape over the past 27 years.
The commendation was made by prominent Deltans, including former member of the House of Representatives for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ben Igbakpa; Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area, Hon. Christian Onogba; and former Project Director of the Asaba International Airport, Mr. Austin Ayemidejo, during a birthday celebration organised in honour of Senator Amori, who clocked 74 on August 8.

The respondents said Senator Amori’s political acumen, sagacity, consistency and commitment to public service had positively influenced the political climate in Delta State.

They noted that the former Commissioner for Education under the administration of former Governor James Ibori had impacted numerous lives across the state and continued to contribute to the development of the state.

According to them, Senator Amori, who currently serves as Chief Political Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has continued to play pivotal roles in the state’s political affairs, particularly in promoting unity and reconciliation among political stakeholders.

They also commended him for his efforts towards fostering unity among the various ethnic nationalities in Delta State, describing him as a bridge-builder and a dependable political leader.

Rt. Hon. Igbakpa, Hon. Onogba and Mr. Ayemidejo, among others, prayed God to grant Senator Amori many more years in good health and continued strength to serve the people.

The occasion attracted the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme; immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Senator Emmanuel Agwariavwodo; Hon. Ejaife Odebala; immediate past Chairman of the Delta State APC, Chief Omeni Sobotie; immediate past Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Dame Nkem Okwuofu; and former Commissioner in the State Executive Council, Chief Philomena Oyarone.

Other dignitaries included family members, friends, political associates and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the former senator representing Delta Central.

The celebration featured the cutting of the birthday cake, dancing by the celebrant and other activities marking the 74th birthday anniversary of the political leader.
