The Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, has urged members of the Ethiope East Progressives Female Youths to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, taking the achievements of the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations to the people at the ward and community levels.

Tonukari gave the charge on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when he received members of the group, led by its Coordinator, Mrs. Iriferi Juliet Ejovwoke, during a courtesy visit to his residence in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area.

The visit, according to Ejovwoke, was to identify with the Commissioner and express the group's support for the developmental programmes of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration, particularly in the education sector.

She commended Tonukari for his efforts towards strengthening higher education in Delta State and assured him of the group's readiness to work with his office in mobilising youths and promoting community development initiatives.

Responding, the Commissioner thanked the delegation for the visit and praised its members for their unity, initiative and commitment to the development of their communities.

He described women and young people as important partners in building a progressive society, urging them to take greater interest in governance and remain actively involved in issues that affect their communities.

Tonukari assured the group of his continued support for initiatives aimed at advancing the interests of women and youths in Ethiope East and Delta State at large.

On the forthcoming 2027 elections, he urged the women to take their mobilisation efforts beyond political meetings, engage directly with residents and ensure that the achievements of the present administrations are communicated effectively across the grassroots.

He specifically called on them to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's second-term bid, Senator Ede Dafinone for Delta Central Senatorial District, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo for Ethiope East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, and Hon. Felix Ejovwoke Erhimedafe for Abraka Constituency in the State Assembly.

The Commissioner expressed confidence that sustained grassroots mobilisation and political engagement would strengthen the electoral fortunes of the candidates and promote continuity in governance and development across the state.
