The family of Obi (Dr.) Henry Chukwuma Ajudua has recorded another milestone with the induction of his two sons, Dr. Freddie Chukwuyem Henry-Ajudua and Dr. Emmanuel Ogomegbunem Henry-Ajudua, into the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Athletics Hall of Fame in the United States.

The brothers were honoured as members of the university’s historic football programme, recognising their contributions during their collegiate careers at NCCU.

Freddie Henry-Ajudua distinguished himself as a defensive lineman for the Eagles, earning All-MEAC First Team honours and recognition as a Black College All-American. Following his collegiate career, he was invited to participate in the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie minicamp.
He subsequently transitioned from American football to rugby, where he became a national champion in the United States before representing Nigeria internationally as a member of the Black Stallions, the country’s national rugby team.

His sporting career has also included advocacy for improved sports administration, infrastructure and grassroots development in Nigeria.

His brother, Dr. Emmanuel Ogomegbunem Henry-Ajudua, pursued a different professional path and established a career as a Foot and Ankle Surgeon.
The induction brings recognition to two brothers who were part of the NCCU Eagles football programme before pursuing careers in international sport and medicine.

For their parents, Obi Dr. Henry Chukwuma Ajudua and Obi Okpoho Dr. Vivian Onyebuchi Henry-Ajudua, the honour represents a significant family milestone and recognition of their sons’ achievements.

The Hall of Fame recognition has attracted congratulatory messages from family members, friends, former teammates and associates in Nigeria and the United States.

For Freddie, the honour adds another chapter to a sporting career that has taken him from collegiate American football in North Carolina to international rugby with Nigeria.

For Emmanuel Ogomegbunem, it represents recognition of his contribution to NCCU athletics before he went on to pursue his medical profession.

The induction has consequently placed the names of the two Ajudua brothers among those recognised for their contribution to the history of North Carolina Central University athletics.
