The 2027 governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Delta State, Engr. Isaac Eshor, has called on political leaders across Nigeria to embrace peace, love, unity and good governance as the nation marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Eshor, a maritime expert and politician, made the call in his Independence Day message, urging Nigerians to use the occasion for deep reflection on the country's journey since independence and the challenges that still confront its citizens.

According to him, Nigeria's independence should not only be celebrated with ceremonies but should also inspire leaders and citizens alike to assess whether the nation has truly achieved freedom from poverty, unemployment, insecurity and other socio-economic challenges.

He noted that many Nigerians continue to struggle with hunger, joblessness and limited access to quality healthcare, stressing that these realities call for renewed commitment to responsible leadership and people-oriented governance.

Nigeria's 66 years of independence should challenge us to ask important questions. Have we achieved freedom from hunger, fear and unemployment? Can a graduate without a job truly feel independent? Can a mother who cannot access healthcare for her child say she enjoys the benefits of independence? he asked.

Turning his attention to Delta State, Eshor expressed confidence in the vast potential of the state, describing it as richly endowed with oil and gas resources as well as a talented and industrious population.
He, however, observed that the state's abundant resources have yet to translate into the level of development and improved living standards expected by many residents.

The AAC governorship hopeful said that if given the opportunity to lead the state, his administration would focus on quality education, improved healthcare services, Blue Economy, infrastructure development, economic empowerment and enhanced security.

Delta State possesses enormous opportunities for growth and prosperity. With the right leadership, we can build a state where quality education, accessible healthcare, economic opportunities and security become realities for all citizens, he stated.

Eshor further urged Nigerians to embrace the values of unity and patriotism, insisting that the country's progress depends on collective efforts to overcome divisions and promote national development.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to expanding the AAC's political structures across Delta State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The AAC candidate called on Nigerians to use the Independence Day celebration as an opportunity to seek freedom from poor governance, divisive politics and negative mindsets, adding that peace, love and good governance remain essential ingredients for national progress and sustainable development.

We must use this occasion to renew our commitment to building a better Nigeria. There is a need for peace, love, unity and good governance if we are to achieve the future we desire, Eshor said.
