NAWOJ South-South VP Condoles with Veteran Journalist Christy Ichofu Over Husband’s Death

The Vice President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Zone F, South-South, Comrade Stella Macaulay, has condoled with veteran journalist Princess Christy Ichofu following the death of her husband, Pastor Patrick Ichofu.

Macaulay, who led members of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on a condolence visit to Princess Ichofu at her residence in Asaba on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, described the loss as a painful moment that required the support and prayers of colleagues, friends and loved ones.

She urged the bereaved journalist to take solace in God and remain strong as she and her family mourned the deceased.

Macaulay noted that the visit was not only to sympathise with Princess Ichofu but also to assure her that colleagues in the journalism profession stood with her during the difficult period.

She encouraged her to uphold the legacies of her late husband and continue to draw strength from the memories they shared.

Pastor Patrick Ichofu died on Friday, September 4, 2026. He was from Ozoro and Ellu communities in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Earlier on Monday, September 7, Delta State Commissioner for Lands, Surveys and Urban Development, Chief Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh, and member representing Isoko South Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Ferguson Onwo, had also visited Princess Ichofu to condole with her and the family.

The two leaders described the late Pastor Ichofu as a peaceful, friendly and compassionate man who treated others with kindness.

They prayed to God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.

The continuing stream of condolence visits from journalists, political leaders, friends and other sympathisers reflects the respect enjoyed by the late Pastor Ichofu and the solidarity surrounding his family at this difficult time.
