Mormah Commends Agbolayah for Successful Workshop, Applauds Oborevwori’s Support

ASABA — The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Development,Engr. Emma Chuks Mormah, has commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, Dr. Toyin Orighomisan Agbolayah, JP., FNIM, for organising what he described as a successful capacity-building seminar for political appointees.

Mormah who is also a pastor,expressed appreciation to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, for providing the financial support that enabled the programme to hold successfully.

He spoke against the backdrop of the one-day Capacity Building Seminar/Workshop for Political Appointees, held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Hotel Benizia, Asaba, with the theme: “Mobilizing Communities, Building Trust: The Role of Political Appointees in Advancing Development, Grassroots Engagement and Democratic Participation.”

The workshop, organised through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, focused on strengthening the capacity of political appointees to effectively engage communities, communicate government programmes and promote grassroots participation in development.

Mormah commended Dr. Agbolayah for his initiative, describing the seminar as timely and relevant to the responsibilities of political appointees, particularly in strengthening the relationship between government and the grassroots.

He noted that the programme provided an important platform for political appointees to reflect on their roles as channels of communication between government and the people, while also encouraging them to listen to community concerns and contribute meaningfully to development.

According to the speech delivered by Dr. Agbolayah at the seminar, the Office of the Special Adviser has more than 230 political appointees, who were described as bridges between government and the people.

Dr. Agbolayah urged the appointees to see their positions as responsibilities to serve, create impact and bring government closer to the communities.

He also emphasised the importance of trust, noting that it is earned through honesty, respect, accessibility and genuine service.

Mormah further commended Governor Oborevwori for his support for the programme, saying it demonstrated the importance attached to capacity development and effective grassroots engagement.

He said the Governor's support contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the seminar and would help strengthen the capacity of political appointees to contribute to the administration's development objectives.

Mormah called for sustained collaboration among political appointees, stressing the need for them to work collectively in promoting peace, unity, community participation and development across Delta State.

He said the success of the workshop should translate into practical engagement with communities and more effective communication of government programmes at the grassroots.

The seminar's message, according to the organisers, was anchored on the principles of more development, more opportunities, more unity and more peace, with the broader call for a united Delta State.

He urged all participants to implement the knowledge gained at their various communities,and also promoting the federal and state government developmental projects and programmes.
