DTHA Correspondents Visit Speaker’s CPS Nwaeke Over Mother-in-Law's Death

Journalists covering the Delta State House of Assembly have condoled with the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Nkem Nwaeke, and his wife, Dr (Mrs) Mary Efekhoba Nwaeke, over the death of his mother-in-law and mother respectively, Late Mama Grace Omoaregba.
The media practitioners paid a condolence visit to Nwaeke in his office at the Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Asaba, where they expressed sympathy and solidarity with the family in this difficult period of bereavement.
Speaking on behalf of the Assembly Press Corps, Mr. Andrew Ikehi of The Pointer Newspaper said the visit was borne out of the team's desire to identify with the Nwaeke family in their moment of grief.
According to him, "When we heard about the passing of Mama Grace Omoaregba, we felt it was necessary to come and condole with you and, by extension, your lovely wife, Mrs. Mary Nwaeke. We are here to let you know that you are not alone at this difficult time”.
Ikehi described the deceased as a mother whose loss would be deeply felt by the family, praying God to grant her eternal rest and give the Nwaeke family and all those left to mourn her the fortitude, comfort and strength to bear the loss.
"We pray that God Almighty will comfort and strengthen the entire family, especially at this painful moment, and grant Mama Grace eternal rest," he added.
Responding, Nkem Nwaeke thanked members of the Assembly Press Team for the condolence visit, describing it as a demonstration of love, concern and solidarity.
Nwaeke said the gesture had further reinforced the bond of friendship and professional camaraderie existing among members of the Assembly Press Corps.
He disclosed that he and his wife had enjoyed a close, cordial and mutually respectful relationship with the deceased over the years, noting that her passing had created a painful void in the family.
"We had a very cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with Mama over the years. She was not just a mother-in-law; she was a mother to us in many respects, and her absence will certainly be felt", Nwaeke said.
The CPS expressed appreciation to the Assembly Press Team for finding time, despite their busy schedules, to visit and share in the family's grief, praying that God would continue to strengthen the team and their families.
Late Mama Grace Omoaregba passed at the age of 84 and survived by members of her immediate and extended family, including the wife of the CPS to Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Mrs. Mary Nwaeke.
