DSSIP GM CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR GOVERNMENT EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES

The General Manager, Delta State Social Investment Programme, DSSIP, Chief Henry Sakpra, has called on Deltans to support the Federal and State Governments in their efforts to empower citizens and improve livelihoods.
Chief Sakpra said the various empowerment and social investment programmes of government are designed to create opportunities for youths, women and other vulnerable groups to become economically self-reliant.
He urged Deltans to embrace the programmes and take advantage of the opportunities being provided, noting that more empowerment projects would be rolled out across the state.
The DSSIP General Manager stressed the need for beneficiaries to make productive use of the support received, saying their success would contribute to the economic development of the state.
He said the empowerment initiatives would help strengthen small businesses, encourage entrepreneurship and reduce dependence on government for employment.
Chief Sakpra also called on community leaders and other stakeholders to support the implementation of the programmes and ensure that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration to investing in the people through social intervention, skills development and empowerment initiatives under the MORE Agenda.
He therefore urged Deltans to support government policies and programmes, assuring that the administration would continue to introduce interventions aimed at improving the welfare and economic well-being of the people.
