Delta Social Investment Programme Targets Vulnerable Deltans, Bridges Socio-Economic Gap

The Delta State Government says its Social Investment Programme is designed to alleviate the challenges faced by vulnerable citizens and bridge the socio-economic gap between the rich and the poor.
The General Manager of the Delta State Social Investment Programme, Chief Henry Sakpra, stated this while highlighting the vision behind the establishment of the office.
Chief Sakpra explained that the programme was passed into law to provide a structured and sustainable approach to addressing the pains and challenges confronting the people, particularly those at the grassroots.
He said the office was created as a vehicle for transmitting the benefits of government programmes directly to the people, with particular attention to persons living with disabilities, market women, youths and other vulnerable groups.
According to him, the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, including the construction of bridges, is now being complemented with initiatives aimed at touching lives and giving vulnerable citizens a renewed sense of hope and dignity.
He noted that the programme would focus on the people, providing opportunities and support capable of improving their socio-economic well-being and giving them a much-needed facelift.

The General Manager assured that Deltans would soon begin to benefit from the various interventions of the Social Investment Programme, as the government intensifies efforts to ensure that the dividends of governance reach those who need them most.
