Delta Assembly Shines As Hansard Dept Wins National Assembly Golden Mace, Presents Trophy To Speaker Guwor

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has officially received the National Assembly Golden Mace Trophy won by the Hansard Department of the House at the Annual Delegate Conference of the Association of Official Reporters of Nigeria, held in Abuja.

Receiving the trophy in his office in Asaba, the visibly elated Speaker commended the department for making Delta State proud and for sustaining the Assembly's reputation as the most vibrant legislature in Nigeria.

Rt. Hon. Guwor urged the Hansard staff, popularly called Official Verbatim Reporters, to see the award as a challenge to sustain excellence, emphasizing the critical role of Hansard in preserving the legislative history and integrity of the House.

Guwor who is the National Chairman of Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, assured the department of the continued support of his leadership, charging them to remain committed to accuracy, confidentiality and global best practices in official report writing.

"I am truly delighted that you have made Delta State proud. This trophy is not just a symbol, it is evidence of competence, diligence and the vibrancy that Delta Assembly is known for. You have represented us excellently”, the Speaker stated.

Presenting the trophy, the Director of Publications Department, Comrade Louis Osiadi, said the award was won in keen contest with colleagues from other State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria and other African countries.

Comrade Osiadi attributed the feat to the enabling environment and purposeful leadership provided by the Speaker and the Management of the Assembly.

He thanked the Speaker for his support and encouragement.

A statement made available to newsmen by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Nkem Nwaeke, stated that a Letter of Appreciation from the Association of Hansard/Verbatim Reporters of Nigeria and signed by its President, Comrade Gobina Drisu, was also handed over to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor.

The presentations were witnessed by the Clerk of the House, Otto Aghoghophia, the Deputy Clerk, Legislative Matters, Silvester Olorogun, and other staff of the Hansard Department who participated in the conference.

The Annual Delegate Conference of the Association of Official Reporters of Nigeria was held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, from September 6th to 12th, 2026.

The conference featured legislative engagements including debates, official reports rendition and format, chamber protocol and stages of bills.

The Hansard Department of the Delta State House of Assembly distinguished itself throughout the sessions and emerged winner of the coveted National Assembly Golden Mace Trophy in recognition of legislative vibrancy.
