Breaking News: Mrakpor SAN to Receive GOMEP's Most Outstanding Politician of the Year Award

ABUJA - The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has announced that prominent legal practitioner and politician, Dr. Peter Adogbejiri Mrakpor, SAN, has been selected as the recipient of its prestigious Most Outstanding Politician of the Year Award.

The decision followed the recommendations of the Guild's seven-member Award Planning Committee, constituted by the National President of GOMEP-NG, Comr. Akpovoke Otiti. The committee, chaired by Comr. Success Ochuchemiya with Prince Clinton Uba serving as Secretary, said its conclusion was reached after an extensive period of consultations, independent research and assessment.

According to the committee's report, Dr. Mrakpor has played a pivotal role in the growth and consolidation of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State. It noted that he was instrumental in building the party's grassroots structures across wards and units throughout the state and provided significant support for its organisational development prior to his emergence as a leading governorship aspirant for the 2027 Delta State governorship election.

The committee further observed that Dr. Mrakpor remains the only Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) currently seeking the office of Governor of Delta State, a distinction it described as a reflection of his remarkable legal career and public service credentials.

Announcing the honour, the National Publicity Secretary of GOMEP-NG, Mr. Eluwa Tochukwu, said the award recognises Dr. Mrakpor's contributions to political development, democratic participation and grassroots mobilisation in Delta State.

He added that the award is intended to celebrate individuals whose leadership, commitment to public service and impact on democratic governance have distinguished them within Nigeria's political landscape.

The presentation of the award is expected to take place during GOMEP-NG's forthcoming national awards ceremony, where distinguished personalities from government, the media, academia, business and civil society will be honoured for their outstanding contributions to national development.
